Children's and Youth Activities
Helm Youth Group
This is a vibrant and extremely popular youth club, catering for groups of children in the 8-11 and 11-15 age ranges. It meets most Fridays in the Old Hutton Village Hall and attracts children from Old and New Hutton and the surrounding districts. New Hutton children feature prominently in its membership.
The wide-ranging indoor and outdoor programmes include table tennis, pool, five-a-side football, hockey, netball and volleyball. Regular outings are arranged for ten-pin bowling, ice-skating, swimming, etc.
There is a small attendance fee and occasional extra charges for the generously subsidised outings.
For more information contact Neil Teasdale on 01539 735393.
Uniformed Children's/Youth Groups
New Hutton children are able to be considered for registration as Rainbows, Beavers, Brownies, Guides, Cubs, Scouts, etc., as these activities are also available to children of neighbouring parishes. It is advisable to book early, as there are waiting lists for some categories.
Meetings are usually held in Sedgwick Village Hall, but this can vary depending upon the relevant group.
For more information contact Anne Russell on 01539 737009.
New Hutton Children's Fund
The committee raises funds and organises a variety of events and activities for school-age children of the parish. These include children's discos, a sports day and family barbecue, theatre outings and a Christmas Party, complete with Father Christmas.
Parent volunteers are welcomed with open arms!
To find out more contact Wendy Thompson, Hon Chair/Secretary of the fund, telephone 01539 721771.
